Three people were killed and two wounded, according to the Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, in an Israeli raid targeting two houses in the southern Lebanese town of Blida early on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Israeli army’s Arabic spokesman, Avichay Adraee, the three people killed were “saboteurs, Hezbollah terrorists working in a military building belonging to the party in Blida.”

For the time being, the identity of those targeted by the Israeli army has not been revealed.

An Israeli drone also targeted the Litani River on the outskirts of Deir Saryan.

For its part, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted a new gathering of Israeli soldiers on Karantina hill, as well as artillery positions in al-Zaoura.

These reciprocal strikes came after a relatively calm morning in southern Lebanon.

Did Hezbollah Attempt to Assassinate a Senior Israeli Security Official?

The Israeli army said it had “foiled a Hezbollah assassination attempt targeting a senior Israeli security official with an explosive device.”

It also stated that it had “informed the target in advance of the date of the explosion.” The Israeli army explained that “the Shin Bet detected that the explosive device was connected to a remote activation device containing a camera and a cell phone, with the aim of being activated by Hezbollah from Lebanon.”

The same military sources pointed out that “Hezbollah was also involved in preparations for the Tel Aviv operation in September 2023, and continues to aggravate the situation in the region and lead it down dangerous and slippery slopes.”
