French presidential envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian announced on Saturday that he visited the Vatican on Friday.
On his X account, Le Drian revealed that he was visiting “as a personal envoy of the president of the French Republic to discuss the Lebanese file with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Parolin, and with Secretary of State for Relations with States, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher.”

Previously, Le Drian was on consecutive visits to Lebanon in an attempt to break the deadlock in the presidential dossier, in coordination with the United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt.
