Shelling intensified on Saturday afternoon in border villages in southern Lebanon.
Israeli artillery shelled the villages of Kfar Kila, Kfarchouba, Helta, Rachaya al-Foukhar, Tayr Harfa and Rab el-Thalathine.
The Israeli air force also stepped up its raids, targeting Blida, Aita al-Shaab, Rab el-Thalathine, Dhayra, Beit Lif, Beraachit, Ramya, Jabal Blat (Marwahin), as well as the region between Rab el-Thalatine and Odaisseh and a wooded area between Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun.
A house in Wazzani was damaged after being targeted by a salvo of rockets. An Israeli strike targeted a house in Beraachit resulting in no casualties.
In addition, the Israeli army combed border villages from the Roueissat el-Alam position in the Kfarchouba hills.
For its part, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks on the Israeli positions of Ramya and Roueissat el-Alam, as well as the barracks of Ramim and Zebdine (Shebaa Farms). It also announced that, in the afternoon, it had again targeted a gathering of soldiers in Cobra Hill. In addition, Hezb claimed responsibility for the attack on the Malkiya settlement, in retaliation for the strikes against Blida.
The Israeli army’s Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, announced that on Saturday morning, an Israeli drone spotted “a group of agents entering a Hezbollah military building in the village of Blida, in southern Lebanon.” He went on to say that in the early evening, “a fighter jet bombed the building where the agents were spotted,” posting a supporting video on his X account.
He also claimed that Israeli warplanes bombed other “military buildings used by Hezbollah” in the villages of Rab el-Thalatine, Aita al-Shaab and Blida. “Several sites in southern Lebanon were also targeted by artillery fire in order to eliminate a potential threat,” he added.
Adraee also said that the army had reported rocket fire from Lebanon, in the direction of Arab Aramcha, Hanita and Har Dov, and had retaliated by shelling sources of fire inside Lebanese territory.”
Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s war cabinet, said during an inspection visit to northern Israel that “the ongoing war on the northern front will only end when Israeli civilians living near the Lebanese border return to their homes.”
