The southern front flared up early Wednesday evening, following a day marked by intermittent exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Late in the day, the Israeli army launched two drone strikes on the Koleileh plain south of Tyre, killing one person and wounding two others.

The strikes came in response to a claim by the Al-Qassam Brigades that they had fired a barrage of 20 missiles from South Lebanon, according to Israeli media, which had earlier reported that the missiles in question were fired in the direction of the Upper Galilee.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, announced later on Wednesday evening that one of their fighters was killed in southern Lebanon, “in the Al-Aqsa Flood battle.” He was identified as a resident of the Mieh Mieh Palestinian refugee camp near Saida.

In addition, Israeli bombardment targeted the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura and Alma al-Shaab and the Labbouneh mountains, as well as the areas around Rachaya al-Foukhar, Kfar Hamam and Wadi Saluki and the forests of Hebbariyeh. The Israeli army also dropped phosphorus bombs on the neighborhood of al-Maslakh, south of the town of Khiam. Other Israeli raids were launched near the Ras al-Ain monastery and on a house in Maroun al-Ras, causing serious damage (to the house) without any casualties being reported.

Hezbollah announced that it targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers near the sites of al-Raheb, Ruwaisat al-Alam and the Shebaa Farms. The Manara settlement was also targeted by the pro-Iranian party, which said it had hit one of the buildings, asserting that “any attack against our people and our villages will be reciprocated.”
