Political parties have called for Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to convene the Higher Defense Council to discuss the situation in South Lebanon, particularly the risks of Hezbollah’s involvement in the conflict in Gaza.

The parties believe it is imperative for the Lebanese government to take a clear stance on this issue. According to parliamentary sources, Mikati discussed this option with the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berry, during their last meeting. Both of them, in agreement, considered it preferable for the Council of Ministers to convene and take a position.
