UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) Joanna Wronecka expressed her “deep concern” over the exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel across the Blue Line on Sunday morning.

In a tweet on her X account, the UN official underlined the urgency to abide by UN resolutions on maintaining calm along the border with Israel.

“It is more important than ever to abide by the cessation of hostilities and the full implementation of Resolution 1701, to shield Lebanon and its people from further conflagration,” Wronecka said in her tweet.

She assured that UNSCOL, in coordination with UNIFIL, “will continue to do all it can and support efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s security and stability.”

Hezbollah stated on Sunday that it had fired several rockets towards Israeli-occupied territories in Kfarchouba. In response, Israel launched artillery fire into Lebanon.
