The head of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, stressed on Saturday via his account on the “X” platform that “the most important thing is not to involve the Lebanese (referring to the recent events in Gaza) by supporting what they cannot bear, given the difficult conditions that they endure” in their daily lives.

By saying so, Mr. Geagea expressed out loud what many Lebanese are thinking, that is: Let’s hope that Lebanon is not dragged into the spiral of violence in Gaza. He was warning mainly against a possible military involvement on the part of Hezbollah, who welcomed the attacks launched on Saturday dawn by Hamas against Israel from the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah considered that the recent attacks were a “response to attempts at normalization with Israel” by several Arab nations, in a dig launched in particular at Saudi Arabia.
