Photography, an expressive medium that has undergone a transformative journey through the ages, is now firmly embedded within the very fabric of the contemporary artistic landscape. Much like a river that has carved its own course over time, it has expanded the boundaries of art by offering a myriad of ways to capture and contemplate the human condition.

Within this dynamic artistic ecosystem, Galerie Tanit has distinguished itself as a beacon illuminating the often tumultuous waters of photographic creativity. Exercising singular discernment, the gallery has painstakingly curated a portfolio of notable photographic works, choosing to feature artists whose vision harmonizes eloquently with the gallery’s own philosophy and mission. In Beirut, Tanit has risen as a true pioneer, being the first gallery to open its doors to exhibitions exclusively dedicated to photography, acting in some ways like the first bud to bloom in the spring of a new artistic era.

In this context of groundbreaking creativity and high-caliber artistry, Galerie Tanit is pleased to extend an invitation for the inaugural event of the Coups de Cœur exhibit, scheduled for Thursday, August 31, between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM at their Beirut location.

This exhibition is a veritable cultural amalgam—a diverse mosaic of artists hailing both from Lebanon and the international scene. Indeed, it forms part of a joint programming effort between the Tanit galleries in Munich and Beirut, acting in tandem like cultural twins uniting the artistic horizons of the West and the East.

The Coups de Cœur exhibition assembles a total of 23 photographers of exceptional diversity and artistic depth, including names such as Ziad Antar, Nadim Asfar, Christian Catafago, Sarah Charlesworth, Franck Christen, Roy Dib, William Eggleston, Fouad Elkoury, Elger Esser, Gilbert Hage, Joan Ill, Joumana Jamhouri, Rania Matar, Ian Mckeever, Randa Mirza, Samer Mohdad, Youssef Nabil, Eric Poitevin, Giulio Rimondi, Roy Samaha, Taryn Simon, Stephen Waddell, and Kimiko Yoshida.

Each of these artists contributes to the exhibition like a note in a complex symphony, creating an experience that transcends boundaries and genres. They are the shards of a cultural kaleidoscope, the diverse elements of a tapestry rich in texture and color, which captivate, educate, and broaden our perspectives on both the world and ourselves.
