On Wednesday, the US State Department stated, “Last week’s incident in Kahaleh is the latest in a series of events demonstrating that Hezbollah prioritizes its own interests, and those of Iran, over the safety of the Lebanese citizens.”
In a statement, the US State Department considered that “the participation of the Lebanese Armed Forces and the steps they took to prevent an escalation confirm the Lebanese Army’s crucial role in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon.”
On Wednesday, August 9, Fadi Bejjani, a resident of the locality of Kahaleh, was killed in the late afternoon in a shootout following clashes with Hezbollah elements. A member of the pro-Iranian group was also killed in the clashes.
