Former MP Fares Souhaid said on Tuesday that the real problem concerning the Kahaleh clashes does not lie in the way a TV channel reports news, but rather in the fact that a group is carrying weapons.

Souhaid made these remarks on his X account, in response to Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah’s speech on Monday evening, marking the anniversary of the end of the 2006 war. The pro-Iranian leader had lashed out at MTV, accusing it of exaggerating and exacerbating the situation by visiting the scene of the incident.

The former MP also pointed out that the Kahaleh affair concerns the whole world, as it reveals the violation of Security Council resolutions 1559, 1701 and 1680, which give priority to the respect of Lebanese sovereignty. “Don’t give lessons in patriotism. Your allegiance is to Iran. It would be better to proclaim Lebanon an Iranian ‘wilaya’ so as not to suffer the burden of our silence vis-à-vis your actions,” he challenged.
