With just one month to go before the Basketball World Cup kicks off, the Lebanese national team sent out a strong message by beating Iran in a friendly match on Wednesday, July 26. In an emotionally charged Nouhad Naoufal (Zouk Mikaël) stadium, the Lebanese players celebrated a fine victory with a final score of 73-66, offering a promising foretaste of their potential.

All eyes were on the Lebanese team as they diligently prepared for the global tournament, which is already shaping up to be an exciting one. The friendly against Iran was a crucial test of the team’s fitness and coordination against a nation renowned for its basketball talent in Asia.

As a reminder, the road ahead for Lebanon remains arduous, however, as the team from the Cedars has fallen into a formidable group alongside France, Canada and Latvia, all of whom boast several NBA players.

However, the Lebanese national team seems ready to take up the challenge with determination.

The Basketball World Cup will be much more than a competition for them, it will be an opportunity to show the world their talent, sportsmanship and national pride.

Against Iran, several players stood out for their performances. Ali Haidar scored 15 points, Karim Zeinoun managed to score 14 points, and Wael Arakji contributed to the team’s success with 10 points. Their outstanding play under the guidance of coach Jad Al Hajj was one of the keys to victory.
