MP Ghayath Yazbeck said “the pressure exerted by the Lebanese Forces and the opposition forced the government to renounce  from appointing a new Central Bank governor .”

“Calls for side dialogues constitute a deviation from the constitution and fall within the framework of a game orchestrated by the system under the leadership of Hezbollah, with the aim of seizing control of the state,” Yazbeck said.

In an interview with Voice of All Lebanon Radio, Yazbeck stressed that “Article 25 of the Monetary and Credit Law, stipulates that the 1st Vice Governor shall assume responsibilities in the event of a vacancy in the Governor’s position.”

He explained that “the LF party does not approach any issue from a sectarian or religious perspective and believes that whoever assumes this position, whether a Maronite or not, becomes responsible for all of Lebanon, not just for his sect.”

“However, the constitution imposes sectarian distribution in first category public positions,” Yazbeck went on to say.

He considered that the vacancies, whether in the Army Chief of Staff or in the governance of the Central Bank of Lebanon, should accelerate efforts toward the election of a President of the Republic.
