The Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Board announced in a press release on Friday that a sudden failure in the main supply source for Electricité du Liban (EDL) had brought the main Dbayeh water pumping station to a standstill.
This interruption prevents the supply of water to all connected stations. As a result, the regions north of Beirut (Achrafieh) and south of Beirut (Tallet Al-Khayat and Bourj Abou Haidar), as well as the coast and central Metn, can no longer be supplied with water.
The Dbayeh station is connected by a direct medium-voltage line from EDL and cannot operate with generators. The Water Board has asked EDL to complete the repairs as soon as possible.
