The leader of the Lebanese Forces (LF) Samir Geagea stated that, had a second round taken place in the 12th presidential election session on Wednesday, Lebanon would have had a new head of state.
“What happened in Parliament, details aside, was an intended blockage of the Presidential election as a whole,” Geagea said, commenting on the 12th session which ended after the first round of voting due to the pro-Hezbollah MPs’ departure before the vote count had even started.
The LF parliamentary bloc, consisting of 19 MPs, voted for Jihad Azour.
