Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati headed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today, May 18, to attend the 32nd Arab League Summit, scheduled for Friday, May 19.

The Lebanese delegation headed by the PM includes Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib, Caretaker Minister of Industry Georges Bouchikian, Caretaker Minister of Economy Amin Salam, Caretaker Minister of Tourism Walid Nassar and Caretaker Minister of agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan, as well as Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ambassador Boutros Assaker, Lebanon’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fawzi Kabbarah and Lebanon’s Delegate to the Arab League Ali Al Halabi.

According to governmental sources, Mikati will be holding a series of pre-scheduled meetings with several heads of delegations.

“This summit is of utmost importance given its timing, as it represents a crucial opportunity for Arab efforts to advocate for the right solutions to the ongoing crisis … and to effectively address the major dilemmas related to the Syrian refugees,” Mikati stated.

Mikati concluded by urging the Arab nations to support the distressed Lebanese people and assist them in overcoming this immense crisis.
