The head of the CIA and a White House special adviser are expected in the Middle East on Wednesday to rally support for the latest ceasefire proposal between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

A source in Qatar, which along with Egypt and the United States is leading the indirect mediation between Israel and Hamas, said that CIA boss William Burns was expected in Doha to “continue working with the mediators to reach an agreement” on a ceasefire.

According to Axios, US President Joe Biden’s special advisor on the Middle East, Brett McGurk, is expected in Cairo on Wednesday, a few days after Biden announced a new proposed agreement.
