The Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service, said on Sunday that Palestinian militant group Hamas rejected the latest truce proposal put on the table a week earlier in Cairo by the mediators.
The rejection of the proposal of truce proposed by the three countries mediating the negotiations – the USA, Egypt and Qatar – “proves that (Hamas chief in Gaza, Yahya) Sinwar does not want a humanitarian agreement, nor the return of the hostages,” Mossad said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office.
Sinwar “continues to exploit tensions with Iran” aiming for “a general escalation in the region,” adds the statement, published a few hours after a massive and unprecedented attack by Tehran, which launched more than 200 drones and missiles towards Israel, without causing any significant damage.
Israel “will continue to work to achieve the objectives of the war against Hamas with all its might, and will turn over every stone to bring back the hostages from Gaza,” concluded the statement.
