Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, France’s position has evolved. Initially expressing unconditional support for Israel, France has shifted back to more traditional demands: de-escalation and the hope to someday see the return of a two-state solution to the negotiating table. This position has been reiterated several times in Lebanon, where the conflict continues to pose a threat of escalation.
