The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, announced on Saturday: ” I came to Doha to express to Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani our full gratitude, appreciation and support for Qatar’s tireless mediation initiatives, namely for the release of the hostages kept in Gaza.” He also condemned the bombings in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire.
For his part, the Qatari official expressed “Qatar’s rejection of the indiscriminate bombings in Gaza” and Israel’s “attempts at forced displacement.”
