In the context of the raging war between Hamas and Israel, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for regional cooperation to prevent the escalation of the conflict in the region, particularly in Lebanon.

In a speech delivered Thursday, Macron said efforts should be deployed to work towards conditions for a lasting peace in the Middle East.

He also stressed the need for all parties to respect international humanitarian law and the fact that the parameters of a lasting peace are well-known: guarantees to Israel for its security and the establishment of a Palestinian state living in peace alongside the State of Israel.
