Riyadi Beirut won the summit of the 14th day of the Lebanese basketball championship against Champville Maristes 89-83 in an intense and tactical match between coaches Ahmad Farran and Sabah Khoury.

The Course of the GameĀ

The game got off to a slow start between the two teams, which was expected after a three-week absence from the tournament following the international break. The first quarter ended with Riyadi Beirut up 22-20.

Champville started the second quarter of the match with great concentration, dominating for a few minutes with shots from their three foreign players, who are among the most important in the league this year, but the Riyadi team was able to absorb the enthusiasm of the opponent’s players to finish the first half of the match with a score of 41-39 for the yellows.

In the third quarter of the match, the two teams continued to match each other to the cheers of the Riyadi fans who filled the stands, while Champville, thanks to its professional players, continued to apply pressure and score three-point baskets to end the third quarter with a score of 63-63.

In the final quarter, Riyadi’s pivots dominated their opponents’ baskets after Champville’s pivot Ibrahima Thomas picked up his fourth foul, forcing coach Sabah Khoury to leave him on the bench for most of the quarter. This gave Riyadi’s players an advantage under the basket, and they managed to end the game in their favor with a score of 89-83.

A Well-Deserved Victory

The victory confirmed Riyadi’s lead in the league and their preparation for Wednesday’s match against Homentmen, an important game with three days to go before the end of the regular league and the start of the knockout rounds.
