After losing to Slovenia (74-58) on Saturday in Debrecen, Hungary, in their first Group B match of the Under-19 Basketball World Cup, the Lebanese national team took on their Madagascan counterparts on Sunday. Madagascar won the match (83-66 – Q1: 24-12; Q2: 14-18; Q3: 22-6; Q4: 23-30) at the Olah Gabor Arena.

Having already got off to a poor start at the U19 World Championship, Lebanon faltered for the second time, squandering their chances of progressing from the group phase. They now find themselves facing an improbable feat next Tuesday, against the USA at Debrecen’s Fönix Arena. If they are to have any hope of progressing to the next round, they will also need a slip-up from the other teams in their group.

Group B of the U19 Basketball World Cup includes the USA, Slovenia, Lebanon and Madagascar. Here are the other U19 World Cup pools:

Group A – Spain, France, Canada, China.

Group C – Serbia, Brazil, Japan, Egypt.

Group D – Turkey, Hungary (host country), Argentina, South Korea.
