Shortly after Israel served a warning to residents of the southern suburb of Beirut to evacuate, the area was rocked by a spate of violent airstrikes which resounded across the city and its surroundings.

Israeli warplanes carried out at least four rounds of airstrikes which reportedly levelled several buildings to the ground. There was no immediate report on casualties.

The Israeli Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee published an urgent warning earlier calling for immediate evacuation “to all individuals present in the buildings specified in the provided maps and the surrounding buildings in the following neighborhoods:  al-Laylaki , Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh.”

“You are located near interests and facilities belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah, and therefore the Israel Defense Forces will target them with force,” he said.

He pointed out that “for your safety and the safety of your family members, you must evacuate the buildings immediately and move at least 500 meters away from them.”
