Hamas announced the death of its leader in Lebanon, Fateh Charif Abou el-Amine, killed in a raid on the Bass Palestinian refugee camp in Tyre.  Fateh Charif was president of the UNRWA teachers’ union in Lebanon. He was killed along with members of his family.

In addition, the Israeli army carried out a drone strike in the heart of Beirut on Sunday night, for the first time since the July 2006 war. Since the beginning of the war on October 8, Israeli strikes near the capital had been limited to the southern suburbs.

The drone strike targeted an apartment belonging to Jamaa Islamiya in the capital’s Cola district, which links the airport road to the rest of the capital and is a well-known reference point in the city.

But the victims were all members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), including politburo member Mohammad Abdel Aal, Imad Audi, the group’s military leader in Lebanon, and Abdel Rahman Abdel Aal.

Until now, Israel had limited its strikes on the Lebanese capital to its southern suburbs.
