German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock spent a mere three hours in Lebanon, stopping by on her return trip from Israel.

She was briefed on the situation in South Lebanon by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib. Baerbock did not convey any message from the Hebrew state. However, during her brief stay, the German minister did not meet with the Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri. Informed sources point out that relations between Berlin and Hezbollah have not been at their best recently, recalling that Germany had previously listed Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. This explains why Baerbock has avoided meeting with Berri. Sources close to Hezbollah reveal that a German security official has already held talks with an official of the pro-Iranian party during a visit that took place away from the media. The content of the discussions was not revealed.
