Following the meeting of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee in which he participated, the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, indicated that “the security situation was discussed at the meeting,” along with measures to be taken to “prevent Lebanon from being drawn into a regional war.”

He also reiterated “the importance of proceeding, as soon as possible, with the presidential elections and implementing the necessary reforms for the country’s recovery.” In this context, Magro stated that “France is working closely with the Quintette (comprising Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Qatar, and Egypt, tasked with monitoring the situation in Lebanon) to help the country out of its deadlock.”

It is worth noting that several points were on the agenda of the aforementioned Parliamentary Committee meeting, including the presidential elections, UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and the rising tensions on the Lebanon-Israel border.
