Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon highly escalated Wednesday, causing several casualties and extensive material damage.

Three people were killed in a raid that targeted a three-story house in the village of Khiam, flattening it to the ground.

Residential areas in Aïtaroun also came under intense Israeli artillery fire, while warplanes carried out raids on the village of Odaisseh.

The Israeli army announced that it had raided more than 20 Hezbollah positions in the Ramya region, including military structures and infrastructure.

Explosions that occurred after the raid, “indicating the existence of weapons storage facilities in the area,” the Israeli army also reported.

This latest increase in tensions comes after a very tense morning, with more than eighteen raids carried out against Jabal Blat and the outskirts of Ramya and Beit Lif in the central sector. Raids also targeted Houla, Aita el-Chaab, Yaroun, Kfar Kila and Jabal el-Rihan.

Israel also bombed the outskirts of Kfarchouba, Halta, Kfar Hammam, Rachaya el-Foukhar, Marouahine and Markaba. The Israeli army also fired on farmers in Wazzani and Slayeb.

In a series of communiques, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks on a military building in Mtalle, one in Manara and four other buildings in Shlomi and Hanita.

It also announced that it had targeted the Malkiya site with artillery shells, destroying its surveillance equipment.
