During its weekly meeting at the Ashrafieh headquarters, the Saydet el-Jabal Gathering pointed fingers at “the Lebanese authorities, specifically the heads of the Parliament and the Council of Ministers, for putting the Lebanese people, especially the people of the south, in the eye of the storm of killing, destruction, and displacement.”

They also emphasized the state’s support for the Hezbollah-Iran militia’s activities, which they claim are primarily directed towards supporting Gaza. They lamented the apparent prioritization of external interests over the welfare of Lebanon and its citizens. “It is as if these presidents represent only Iranian and other interests, not Lebanese ones,” they added.

Questioning the legitimacy of Hezbollah’s unilateral decisions in matters of war and peace, the meeting raised concerns over the absence of parliamentary and governmental oversight of such critical decisions. They called upon the elected officials to assert their authority and prevent Lebanon from being dragged into conflicts that threaten its stability and prosperity.

Labeling Hezbollah’s actions as a blatant display of loyalty to Iranian interests, the gathering warned that “this decision will be paid for first by Lebanon and the Lebanese with their blood and property.” Additionally, they urged opposition parliamentarians to move beyond mere verbal objections and actively seek solutions to the escalating crisis.

Moreover, the gathering stressed that Lebanese officials “should be committed to implementing the constitution and demanding that the complicit government fulfill its full responsibilities towards all Lebanese.” They also urged them to engage with international bodies to reinforce the implementation of relevant resolutions aimed at safeguarding Lebanon’s autonomy.
