US envoy Amos Hochstein is expected in Beirut on Monday for a new round of talks with Lebanese officials focused on ways to restore calm in southern Lebanon in the wake of a possible cease-fire in Gaza, according to local TV station MTV.

Hochstein will kick off his talks with a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, whose political movement, Amal, along with Hezbollah, is engaged in hostilities with Israel on the southern front.

Meanwhile, outgoing Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, who took part in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Saturday, announced in his speech that Lebanon is “in favor of indirect negotiations with Israel, because of the danger of a widening of the war, which risks becoming a regional war”.
