Retired military personnel have called for a sit-in on Wednesday at 2 PM in Riad al-Solh Square, two hours before the cabinet meeting, which is set for 4 PM.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the retired military urged all civil servants and pensioners, both military and civilian, to participate in the sit-in.

“We reject the proposal to readjust public sector salaries, which suggests three salaries for high-ranking officers and four for officers, with a minimum of 8 million Lebanese pounds,” the statement read.

According to the military, “this proposal does not align with their demands, which aim to ensure justice, equality, and the basic needs of all families of martyrs, civil servants, military personnel, and pensioners to lead a dignified life.”

The military also called on the government to consider “the proposed solutions we have presented, which take into account the spending ceiling and respect the allocated appropriations.”
