Negotiations are intensifying behind the scenes between opposition forces intending to create a broad coalition of sovereigntist forces — traditional parties as well as so-called Change MPs.
This would be a large-scale national coalition, with significant political weight due to the large number of personalities who would make it up.
Only the Free Patriotic Movement, the Hezbollah-Amal tandem, and a few MPs who gravitate towards the pro-Iranian formation would remain outside this coalition. The leader of the Kataeb party, Samy Gemayel, is actively involved, while the Lebanese Forces are trying to strengthen their ties with the various opposition players to overcome certain obstacles to the formation of this broad coalition, particularly after noting that the obstructionist tandem is trying to keep its opponents divided.
