Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib took it upon himself to be the spokesperson of the Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Joseph Aoun and make public statements to the international press regarding national security matters and the army, which certainly does not fall within the scope of his duties.

He declared on Tuesday that there will be “no agreement to pulling Hezbollah away from the border beyond the Litani River.” According to him, “this would only lead to a renewal of the war.”

In an interview with Al-Arabyia, the so-called minister stated, “We will only accept a complete solution to all border issues with Israel.”

Bou Habib estimated that “the Lebanese army does not have sufficient capabilities to deploy troops on the borders,” adding that “the army suffers from a shortage of equipment and ammunition.”

It seems that Abdallah Bou Habib needs a crash course regarding his ministerial duties, responsibilities and scope of action. Instead of reinforcing and supporting the only legal and legitimate military institution, Bou Habib would rather endorse a pro-Iranian militia to defend the country’s territory and borders. Dear caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs, please mind your own affairs.
