The risk of escalation persists on Lebanon’s southern border as US envoy Amos Hochstein arrives in Beirut on a new mission to prevent the war in Gaza from spreading to Lebanon and to relaunch discussions on the delimitation of the land border with the Hebrew state.

Two civils from the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Association were killed on Thursday in an air raid on the association’s center in Hanine.

On Thursday morning, Israel fired seven rockets in the direction of Tallet el-Hamames and Bsatine. It also shelled Khallet Ballout and Wadi Bayad, as well as the outskirts of Tayr Harfa, Jebbine, Hula and Wadi Dellafeh. A phosphorus bomb was also dropped on Khiam and air raid was carried out on Hanine.

On the Lebanese side, rockets were fired at Metula hill, some of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome.

For its part, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted two gatherings of Israeli soldiers around Metula and the Baghdadi position.

On Wednesday night, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft overflew Tyre and Bint Jbeil until dawn, while the Israeli army fired incendiary shells on the outskirts of Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Aita al-Shaab and Jabal el-Labbouneh, setting fire to the forests adjacent to the Blue Line. In addition, the Israeli army dropped flare bombs on the western and central sectors and on the outskirts of Tyre.

On Wednesday evening, Israeli artillery bombarded the area around Tayr Harfa and Jebbine, as well as the area around the town of Rmeish and Aita al-Shaab.
