The Kataeb media office reacted on Thursday to what it called a “campaign of defamation, lies and accusations” initiated by Hezbollah against party leader MP Samy Gemayel since the war on Gaza started on October 7.

“This campaign will not undermine our national commitment or our struggle to build a strong state. On the contrary, it will strengthen our determination to confront Hezbollah’s destructive plans politically,” the party said in a statement.

The Kataeb reaffirmed their commitment to the struggle at all levels, “popular, national, media, regional and international,” until they reach the goal of “bringing Lebanon back on track, in harmony with its history and environment.”

Lebanon would then be “a country for all Lebanese, on an equal footing, without one category being subjected to another, as is the case today,” the statement added.

The party also denounced “all Hezbollah mouthpieces,” whom it described as “mercenaries” responsible for “spreading accusations, lies and defamation” against Samy Gemayel.

“Their intention is to silence any opposing and free voice that stands in the face of Hezbollah’s destructive policies for the country,” the Kataeb added, in reference to the Iranian-backed party’s initiation of cross-border confrontations, or what it called a “support front” for Gaza that could drag the country into an open-ended conflict with Israel.
