The Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated on Wednesday that “the defense army received reports of the number of Lebanese soldiers injured during the airstrike.” Adraee said, “We confirm that the Lebanese army soldiers were not the targets of this airstrike and we regret this incident, and we are investigating its circumstances.”

On Tuesday evening, the Lebanese army officially announced the death of Sergeant Abdel Karim al-Moukdad, killed during an Israeli bombardment. This is the first Lebanese army soldier to be killed since the start of the war in Gaza and the clashes in South Lebanon on October 8. Three wounded Lebanese soldiers were taken to Mays al-Jabal hospital.

Adraee said, in a tweet on his X account, that “the defense soldiers neutralized a real and imminent threat that was detected within Lebanese territory, the threat was detected from inside a reconnaissance compound and the firing of shells belonging to Hezbollah near the area of Nabi Awadah-Al-Adaisseh on the Lebanese border.”
