Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib asserted on Tuesday that Lebanon is “committed to the implementation of Resolution 1701 and Israel must cease its air, land and sea violations of Lebanese sovereignty.”
During a meeting with representatives from Switzerland and Denmark and the Norwegian chargé d’affaires, Bou Habib also stressed the need to end hostilities in Gaza.
Bou Habib’s statement came less than 24 hours after a Hamas statement announcing the creation of a group called the Al-Aqsa Flood Vanguards. It should also be noted that the government, of which Bou Habib is a member, has made no statement since the Hamas announcement in Lebanon on Monday.
