The situation on Lebanon’s southern border remains very tense, especially since Hamas announced the formation of a new movement on Lebanese territory, the “Al-Aqsa Flood Vanguards,” whose mission is to “liberate Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

The alarm sirens of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) sounded on Tuesday in Naqoura, following intense bombardment on both sides of the border. On the Lebanese side, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for operations against four Israeli positions, notably on the outskirts of Mays al-Jabal, Blida, and the Shebaa Farms. In addition, the Israeli barracks in Zibdine at the Shebaa Farms were attacked by ten rockets launched from southern Lebanon after the Israeli Army shelled Aita al-Shaab and the outskirts of Kfarchouba, Chihin, Jebbine, Beit Liv, Wadi Hassan, Umm el-Tout, and Majdel Zoun.

The outskirts of Ramya, Aita el-Shaab, and Naqoura were also targets of Israeli strikes. The villages of Jabal al-Labbouneh and Jabal al-Allam were also targeted from Monday night until Tuesday. These attacks were followed by artillery bombardments targeting the villages of Ramya, al-Qawzah, Alma al-Shaab, Aita al-Shaab, Birkat Richa, and the entrance to al-Bustan.

In addition, the Israeli Army fired flares over the southern coast of Tyre and over the Blue Line, and Israeli reconnaissance aircraft have been flying over villages in the western and central sectors since Monday night and Tuesday morning.

In a related development, Israeli public radio reported on Monday evening that “rockets launched from Lebanon targeted an Israeli military position, supposedly ‘heavily protected,’ causing serious damage”. The radio station said that “the Israeli Army and security services are investigating the circumstances of the incident,” especially as neither Hezbollah nor Palestinian factions have so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
