The Metropolitan of Beirut, Bishop Elias Audi, emphasized on Sunday the “importance of the Lebanese Army and the necessity to rally around this institution, as it is the only one still standing in the current situation.”

During his sermon, Bishop Audi also called on Lebanese citizens to “realize their duty and hold their representatives accountable so that they fulfill the role for which they were elected.”

Reflecting on Lebanon’s National Day, celebrated on November 22, the Metropolitan believed that independence would regain its meaning “only on the day a president is elected, marking the beginning of the country’s recovery through a comprehensive reform plan.”

According to Bishop Audi, it is through this reform plan that “corruption, encroachment on sovereignty and the constitution, border violations, restrictions on freedoms and the exploitation of the judiciary will be eradicated. The decision to restore dignity, the state’s power and the law’s sovereignty is in the hands of the state itself.”

He concluded, “Only then will the Lebanese feel they are taking control of their destiny because their state, with all its components, is the sole leader, the sole spokesperson and the sole decision-maker in domestic and foreign policy.”
