The southern front is witnessing an escalation in military operations between Hezbollah and the Israeli army. On midday Tuesday, a drone targeted an uninhabited house on the outskirts of the town of Blida and the vicinity of the new football stadium in the western outskirts of the town of Mays al-Jabal. Moreover, heavy Israeli artillery shelling targeted the Southern villages of Mays al-Jabal, Blida, Wadi el-Salouqi and Mohaybib. Airstrikes and artillery shelling also targeted the area known as Al-Ghaba between Aitaroun and Maroun al-Ras.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, a precarious calm had prevailed in southern Lebanon following a night marked by intense shelling that targeted the vicinity of Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab and Jabal al-Labouneh. Incendiary bombs were also dropped on the forests adjacent to the Blue Line.

Of note, alarm sirens sounded in Zikim and Ashkelon.

The Israeli army had announced that its “air defense networks intercepted a suspicious target off the coast of the town of Acre, in northwestern Israel.”

Moreover, a drone was found stuck in a tree in the Lebanese village of Ebel el-Saqi. An army unit and UNIFIL peacekeepers were dispatched to the scene.

Throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning, Israeli surveillance aircraft flew over the central and western sectors, firing flares that reached the outskirts of the villages of Zebqine, Yater and Kafra.

For its part, Hezbollah announced having bombed Malkiya in Upper Galilee on Monday night, “as Israelis were working on rebuilding it.” The party’s media also published videos showing attacks by their pro-Iranian fighters on Israeli positions along the southern border.

It should be noted that some border regions are experiencing power outages, as well as disruptions to Internet connectivity linked to the Alfa GSM network.
