The media in Lebanon were once again the target of Israeli fire on Monday.

A convoy of journalists was targeted in the afternoon by two Israeli shells in Yaroun, south Lebanon. An Al-Jazeera cameraman, Issam Mawassi, was slightly wounded and the broadcast vehicle was damaged. The attack occurred as crews from the daily Al-Akhbar and the TV channels Al-Jadeed, Al-Jazeera and MTV were touring the village of Yaroun.

Today’s targeting of journalists by the Israeli army is the second since armed clashes began on the southern border, following the start of the war between Hamas and Israel on October 7.

In a first attack on journalists almost a month ago, Reuters photojournalist Issam Abdallah was killed. Others were seriously injured: American video journalist Dylan Collins and Lebanese photojournalist Christina Assi, from AFP, as well as Al-Jazzera’s Lebanese correspondent Carmen Joukhadar.
