Lebanon’s caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi affirmed that activating the emergency plan in all governorates is necessary, and that “the aim isn’t to scare people but to reassure them.”

Mawlawi visited Thursday morning the Serail of Saida where he was received by the Governor of South Lebanon, Mansour Daou, along with a team of security officials at the governorate level.

“Lebanon is a country of faith, and the government stands in solidarity with the South, which is a part of our people,” he said.

Mawlawi is expected to later head to Nabatieh, also accompanied by Daou. Then he will visit the city of Sour to inspect the conditions of displacement centers in the border villages and assess the preparedness in the two governorates as part of the emergency plan established by the Council of Ministers.
