The General Congress of the Tashnag Party has re-elected MP Hagop Pakradounian as the Secretary-General of the party for the fifth consecutive term. Pakradounian was first nominated as General Secretary of the Tashnag party in Lebanon in 2005, and has held this position ever since.

The Tashnag Party traditionally represented Lebanon’s Armenian community. In 2000, the party broke away from Rafic Hariri’s coalition over disagreements about a unified parliamentary bloc, choosing to run independently.

In 2005, they boycotted elections in Beirut, leading to their alignment with the March 8 Alliance due to their inability to reach a consensus with the March 14 Alliance. This shift marked their opposition to Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s government.

Furthermore, the recent re-establishment of an alliance between the Marada Movement and Tashnag brought significant changes to the electoral landscape in the Metn-North constituency. The Tashnag Party currently holds 3 seats in parliament.
