Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib said on Friday that he thinks that “Hezbollah is aware of the danger posed by a possible war in Lebanon. But we haven’t received any guarantees.”

In a televised interview, Bou Habib stressed that “Hezbollah is an independent entity, with relations with Syria and Iran, and part of Lebanon.”

He also announced that next week, Lebanon will file a complaint with the United Nations against Israel’s use of phosphorus.

He also revealed that he held talks with several ambassadors, notably from the West. They did not deny that Israel was planning a pre-emptive strike against Lebanon.

Furthermore, he warned that “if a ceasefire was not imposed in the Gaza Strip, the war would not stop and would become regional.”

With regard to Lebanon’s exclusion from the Cairo Peace Summit, Bou Habib explained that this was due to the refusal of certain nations to participate if Israel or Syria were present. This would have led to the exclusion of Lebanon, Syria and Israel. He pointed out that this situation had nothing to do with alliances.
