Former MP and Chairman of the National Council for the Removal of Iranian Occupation, Fares Souaid, denounced on Thursday, October 19, any attempt against the French embassy in Beirut. His statement came in response to Paris’ backing of Israel against Iranian-backed Palestinian militant group, Hamas.

“Like many other Lebanese, I condemn any aggression against the French embassy in Beirut. France is Lebanon’s friend, and those who support Hamas in Lebanon in no way represent all Lebanese,” Souaid said in a comment posted on his X account.

Demonstrators brandishing Palestinian flags and banners of Hezbollah and its allies protested outside the embassy against the raging war in Gaza and France’s position in support of Tel Aviv.
