France asked its citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon. In a press release published on its website, the French Embassy in Beirut wrote, “Given the security tensions in the region and in particular on the southern border of Lebanon, it is not recommended for French visitors who are planning a stay in Lebanon to go to this country, unless there is an imperative reason.”

The embassy also called on its nationals to “keep away from any gatherings, to stay informed of traffic conditions and developments, in particular through local media and to follow safety instructions of the Lebanese authorities,” since “gatherings are being planned on Wednesday in different districts of Beirut (southern suburbs, city center, main roads), and are likely to create difficulties of access and circulation inside these cities.”
