Israel renewed shelling on the outskirts of the border town of Marwahin with phosphorus shells, according to the state news agency (NNA).

The Lebanese army stated on “X” that the outskirts of the towns of Al Dhahira and Aita al-Shaab, along with other border areas, are currently under aerial and artillery bombardment by Israel.

Around 3:30 PM, reports indicated that Israeli forces shelled the border area of Al Dahira in the western sector, reaching the towns of Marwahin, Al Bustan and Al Zuloutiya. Intense gunfire was also heard at the Al Dahira border. The Israeli army reported a clash on the northern front after armed individuals infiltrated from the Lebanese border. Israeli media reported that two infiltrators affiliated with Hezbollah were killed by Israeli army fire.

MTV News reported that the group attempting to infiltrate the occupied territories included four Palestinians, two were martyred and two are missing.

A Hezbollah official informed Reuters, “We did not carry out any operations inside Israel.”

Earlier on Monday, Israeli media reported that 12 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee and Mount Hermon. Channel 13 in Israel noted that the rocket salvo in the north was relatively limited.

Residents of Kiryat Shmona were asked to open shelters immediately. In addition, Channel 12 stated that “there are no reports of shells from Lebanon, and the army is investigating the reason for the sirens activation.” Israeli aircrafts flew at a low altitude over the southern border areas.

The Lebanese army, in turn, denied reports of missile launches from southern Lebanon.

In response to questions about UNIFIL’s measures to deal with protests along the Blue Line, UNIFIL official spokesperson Andrea Tenenti stated, “according to some reports, some individuals have gathered near the Blue Line, but as of this morning, we have not witnessed any significant gatherings.”

He added, “We continue to closely monitor the situation, and UNIFIL peacekeeping troops are ready to deploy to ease tensions and maintain stability in the area along the Blue Line.”

The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, announced that the Israeli army had killed a number of militants who crossed the border from Lebanese territory into Israel. “Fighters are currently conducting searches in the area, and helicopters are currently carrying out airstrikes in the region,” he added.

In a second statement on Monday, Tenenti said that “UNIFIL peacekeepers observed explosions near the town of Al-Bustan in southwest Lebanon this afternoon.”

He emphasized that “UNIFIL’s Head of Mission Major General Stefano Del Col is in contact with the relevant parties and urges them to exercise the utmost restraint and to use the mechanisms of communication and coordination that UNIFIL has in place to prevent further escalation and loss of life.”

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army’s leadership urged citizens to take maximum precautions and refrain from heading to border-adjacent areas to ensure their safety.
