UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti confirmed on Sunday morning that peacekeeping troops stationed in Lebanon observed the firing of rockets from southeastern Lebanon towards Israeli-occupied territories in Kfarchouba. In response, Israel launched artillery fire into Lebanon.

Tenenti stated, “We are actively engaging with authorities on both sides of the Blue Line to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.”

He emphasized the importance of restraint and urged all parties to utilize UNIFIL’s communication and coordination mechanisms to de-escalate and prevent a rapid deterioration of the security situation.

It is important to note that Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for targeting three Israeli locations in the Shebaa Farms on Sunday.

They clarified that “they targeted the radar site, Zebdine site, and Ruwaysat Al-Alam site with a large number of artillery shells and guided missiles, resulting in direct hits on the locations.”
