The Saydet el-Jabal Gathering stated that there will be “no solution to the Syrian refugee crisis as long as the Bashar el-Assad regime, which has pushed them back and continues to encourage them to leave their country and their property, is still in place.”

In a statement released after its weekly meeting on Monday, the Gathering added, “Getting rid of the Hezbollah-backed Syrian regime is the only way to end this stifling crisis.”

The Saydet el-Jabal Gathering noted that “Hezbollah continues to negotiate, on behalf of Lebanon, to complete the demarcation of land borders with Israel. The coming days and weeks will reveal that the United States has reacted very moderately to the attack that targeted their embassy (last September 25) in Awkar, in order not to block ongoing negotiations.”

The statement also explained that due to the prolonged presidential vacuum and the economic collapse, political parties are intensifying community incitement, which endangers the foundations of the State. The Gathering thus accused specific political forces of  “endangering the future of Lebanon,” stressing that this is the case of Hezbollah, “which wants to impose its hegemony on the country by force of arms, even if this leads to the disintegration of the State and the entity of Lebanon.”
