The Army Command issued a statement on Wednesday, September 13, refuting reports wherein an agreement was reached on the 13 disputed points along the Blue Line between Lebanon and Israel.

“The Commander-in-Chief of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), General Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz, chaired a tripartite meeting in Ras Naqoura, South Lebanon, in the presence of a delegation of the Lebanese army led by brigadier General Mounir Chehadeh,” the statement said.

“During the meeting, the 13 points subject to reservations and deemed as violations were discussed without an agreement being reached. It was decided to maintain contacts and meetings under the aegis of the United Nations,” the statement added.

“The army command denies reports that an agreement has been reached in this regard,” the statement concluded.

Tenenti

UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said that “the discussions taking place in the tripartite meetings are confidential,” adding that “the media reports released today (Wednesday) contain speculations that do not accurately reflect the discussions that took place.”
In a statement to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA, official) he added that “such reports based on unconfirmed rumors can jeopardize the progress made so far in reducing tensions and advancing discussions on unresolved issues along the Blue Line.”
He underlined “the ongoing work to pursue the discussions under the auspices of UNIFIL with the goal of addressing all issues along the Blue Line.”
