In Tawarek, the residents are fed up. This neighborhood in Saida, located on the outskirts of the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Helwe, still bears the scars of the previous day’s battles. The old Sidon finds itself once again paralyzed by this camp created in 1948, which is the subject of a struggle between Palestinian factions close to Iran and those loyal to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. 1,300 refugees fled the camp and are staying in the surrounding mosques or the municipality of Saida.
